Magnesium Oxide Boards (MgO) & Structural Insulate Panel (SIPs) – a unique and new building product for the Manitoba & Northwestern Ontario market
Great potential for the new-home market, commercial industry, plus the rural and cottage-country market
MgO SIPs combine two important new technologies:
Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are not new to the construction industry but they are not yet common practice. SIPs are factory constructed wall systems that are delivered to a construction site and erected on location. They replace the traditional process of framing, insulating, exterior cladding and dry-walling on site. A number of contractors use this building technology today, however they typically utilize traditional materials such as OSB board, lumber, fiberglass insulation and gypsum wallboard. Magnesium oxide (MgO) boards replace both the OSB and gypsum wallboard as the skins of the SIP, while the centre of the SIP is filled with EPS (expanded polystyrene) styro-foam instead of fiberglass.
The result is a panel with superior characteristics including:
Fire Resistance Will not burn
Standard 1 hour (2-hour available)
Mould and Mildew Resistance
Highly Energy Efficient Solid construction = fewer thermal breaks
